Catholic Charities Counseling and Adoption Services announces new name and renewed mission

Catholic Charities Counseling and Adoption Services has announced that it will become Catholic Community Services of Northwestern Pennsylvania, adopting a new identity that more clearly reflects its mission, values and long-standing commitment to serving individuals and families throughout the Catholic Diocese of Erie.

The new name is the result of more than a year of thoughtful discussion, planning and discernment involving the agency’s dedicated staff, leadership and board of directors. The process also included the development of a new mission statement, tagline and visual identity.

“This new name honors our Catholic foundation while more clearly communicating who we are, whom we serve and the important role we have within communities across Northwestern Pennsylvania,” said Dawn Joy, PhD, RN, Chief Executive Officer, Catholic Community Services of Northwestern Pennsylvania. “While our name is changing, our commitment remains steadfast: We will continue providing professional, compassionate services that respect the dignity of every person.”

The word “community” is central to the agency’s renewed identity. Rooted in the Latin word communitas, it evokes solidarity, togetherness and a deep sense of shared life. For Catholic Community Services of NWPA, community represents the larger concept of family – people supporting one another and receiving the tools, care and encouragement they need to thrive.

The new name also provides greater clarity for clients, community members and partner organizations by distinguishing the agency and strengthening understanding of its services and regional mission.

“Our agency’s work has always been grounded in compassion, dignity and care,” said Joy. “Catholic Community Services of NWPA gives us a clear and welcoming identity that reflects both our faith and our commitment to serving people of every faith and background.”

The agency’s new mission statement is:

Catholic Community Services of NWPA is a nonprofit organization serving communities and families throughout the Catholic Diocese of Erie. Faithful to Christ’s mission of love, the agency provides professional services and other supportive programming to people of all faiths.

Its new tagline, “Serving Families, Strengthening Communities,” expresses the connection between the agency’s direct support of individuals and families and the broader impact of that work throughout the region.

The transition to the new name will include the introduction of a new logo, website and updated marketing and communication materials. The new visual identity is designed to convey connection, hope, faith and shared community.

The new name will officially take effect on DATE. Additional transition details will be announced as they are finalized.

Clients and community partners can expect services and programs to continue without interruption. The agency’s leadership, professional standards and commitment to person-centered, strength-based care will remain unchanged.
